Contemporary Praise for something different---
PRISM
|
|
This service is held once a month (usually the third Sunday) in the place of the traditional evening service at 6:30pm and encourages worship that is not constrained by the structure of conventional services. PRISM provides space for each of us to enjoy our own form of worship and opportunities to experiment.
- The music tends to be upbeat, provided by our band of talented instrumentalists and soloists
- There is dance, both choreographed pieces at the front and free form at the back
- Drama is as likely as a sermon
- There is usually a talk by an invited speaker or one of our members on the theme
- Space is available for sharing experiences, poems or God-incidences
- Flags, banners and ribbons make regular appearances
- The service is led by different people from the group each time
- The minister enjoys a low profile as one of the congregation (except participation is expected so he can't hide)
- Age range is "young at heart" --- real and recycled teenagers (who can be in their 80's!)
